Top 5 Ways to Make Money With an Affiliate Program
March 13, 2009 on 4:51 pm | In home business, maria porter, work at home | No CommentsAffiliate marketing programs are a multi $trillion dollar business. They are gaining even more popularity recently due to the economy. There is no re-inventing the wheel for the marketer as the products are already made, they are tried and tested and generally have documented conversion rates. There is usually no monetary outlay to sell a product.
There is a huge selection of products available for resell on the market today. Most are equipped with lead capture pages and follow up messages provided by the product developer. If you are interested in making money selling affiliate products I recommend you take a look at the products available through commission junction, commonly known as C.J., and Click Bank.
One of the main draw backs of affiliate marketing is link stealing, meaning a prospect views a product, likes it and then purchases it from his own affiliate link, leaving you, the person who has spent the time and effort advertising the product with nothing.
Do not despair, if you are interested in making an income with affiliate marketing there are a few ways around this problem.
1. Cloaking of the link URL. By purchasing your own domain name and masking the url the domain is forwarded to, the customer clicking on the link is unable to detect the underlying link. The drawback to this is that on occasion the cookie required to track a customer is destroyed by the masking. Simple domain forwarding without masking alleviates this problem but it allows the referral link to show up in the address bar. Check to see if the reseller allows masking of the URL in the Agreement Terms.
2.Create your own opt-in page to capture the prospects information prior to sending the prospect to the sales page. This way you will be building your own list and even if the prospect does not become a customer this time, they may purchase something else in the future. As any good marketer would say, the money is in the list.
3.Offer the prospect something they can not get if they purchase directly from their own link. For example a gift with value, a marketing system or instruction on how to make the most of the product for their use or for resale.
4. Not all products are made equal. Check the stats to see which have the highest conversion rates and what percentage of the sale is paid to the affiliate.
5.Odd as it may seem, some affiliate programs pay more for a customer than the customer actually pays for the product. The logic behind this is that the company will make money on the customer so long as they can retain them by providing an exceptional service or product with longevity. The company will also make money from direct customer referrals.
Before jumping into a major marketing campaign, I recommend you might want to check up on any data available with regards to cancellation and chargeback’s.
Affiliate marketing is a viable, fun and inexpensive way to make money from home.
I hope this article has helped you. If you need any information on an affiliate program which does meet and exceed all the criteria in this article I do recommend you visit the
